HOW TO PREPARE BEFORE A TATTOO:

  • Get a good night of sleep

  • Eat a meal beforehand

  • Avoid alcohol consumption 24h before your appointment

  • Avoid taking painkillers 24h before your appointment

  • Avoid excessive consumption of caffeine shortly before your appointment

  • Dress up appropriately for your session (clothes might get ink stains)

  • Do not sunbathe for 2 weeks prior to your appointment

  • Do not apply a numbing cream without consulting with the artist

AFTERCARE:

  1. The artist will apply the first sheet of Dermalize bandage that stays on your skin for 24 hours.

  2. After 24 hours, gently remove the bandage by peeling it off in a shower under warm running water. Make sure your hands are clean first before doing so.

  3. Once the film is off, wash off the blood and ink with an antibacterial shower gel. Do not use hand soap, sponges or anything that carries bacteria on it; instead gently wash it with your cleaned hands.

  4. After you clean your tattoo, wipe it with a Dermalize wipe and let it air dry for a few minutes. During this time make sure to stay away from your pets and make sure the tattoo isn't touching any surfaces.

  5. Once the tattoo is dry, apply a new Dermalize bandage given by your artist. Follow the instructions from he video on this page for help.

  6. The bandage stays on for the next 5-6 days. During this time, make sure to avoid direct sun exposure, shower instead of bathing, be gentle with the tattoo, avoid excessive drinking and get plenty of rest. If you're a frequent gym goer, it is recommended to take a break for at least 2-3 days after getting your tattoo done.

  7. After 5-6 days, repeat step 2 and 3. The sheet itself might leave some residue this time around, so make sure to soak it in running water and gently rub it with your palm. Any extra stubborn residue can be removed by applying a moisturiser (Cocoa Butter recommended) with circular motion to the problematic areas.

  8. Now that your tattoo is bandage free, make sure to keep it moisturised. A thin layer of Cocoa Butter once a day is recommended - there isn't a particular time limit for doing this as keeping your skin well moisturised will make the tattoo look more fresh and vibrant for years to come.
